Inca Trail Day 1

The Inca Trail was AMAZING!  Part of it was having three great friends, Jeff, Colin and Kirk along for the fun.  The following pictures just aren´t going to show how beautiful and how incredible the trip was.  You all will just have to experience it for yourselves.

Quatro Amigos… Incans beware!

Uhhh no this isn´t gringos getting ready to hike, its our porters…  On the trail there are 500 people allowed per day.  Augusto our guide estimates that 180 are hikers & 320 are porters and guides.

The start of the hike.  As you can see some people chose to carry their bags.  We chose to support the local economy and hired porters to do our dirty work.

Jeff and Colin chewing on coca leaves.  That´s Helen our new english friend in the back ground “avoiding” the picture.

A local guy had his Hut just behind where this picture was taken.  Everyone agreed that his view of the mountain kinda sucked.

Our Hike to Camp Day 1

You almost feel guilty arriving at camp, hot popcorn and tea waiting for you in the dining tent and everything already set up.

Colin was upset that Miguel our guide did not piggy back him up the trail.  Needless to say everybody was Kung Fu fighting.  Kirk was about to jump in but Miguel had him covered.

Clear Skies

One thing that I regretably could not photograph were the stars.  We were lucky to have a clear night on the new moon.  That in conjuction with the altitude and absense of light polution made for an incredible night.  I dont believe that I have seen that many stars at one time.  It was beautiful…
