Chengdu, Pandas & Emei Shan

Chengdu is a large city in central China known for its Panda breeding facility. I booked a tour to go and see the Pandas for the first day and the following day I would head down to Leshan to climb Emei shan.

Panda Pictures to follow.

The Emei Shan is littered with monasteries.

The first monastery is easily accessible by tourists.  As you can see it was crowded.  Luckily, all of the other monasteries on the hike are only accessible by the trail and the mountain was nearly empty.

There are a ton of stairs…

I became obsessed with how they built things in China. This guy is carrying a solid stone tread on his back.

I ate lunch at this Monastery… Great noodles.

Me at the top of the monastery at the top,3099 meters high. Thats a 2399 meter vertical climb in one day- which is very difficult. I spent the night at the monastery at the top of the Mountain.  They had spicy vegetarian dinner with a crazy pepper.

There were a bunch of water falls.

There are tons of monkeys on the mountain.  FYI they are super aggressive.  The cookies he is eating he snatched out of a hikers hand.

It was an awesome two day hike.
