Singapore is everything China is not although it feels like everyone is Chinese and the speak Mandarin as well as they do English. Its very clean, the people are polite and there is no pollution or traffic. After three weeks in China it was refreshing to be able to get on and off a train without engaging in mortal combat.
Singapore’s downtown area is bustling at night. They have a restaurant row with swank clubs and bars.
The performing arts center has a strong presence on the water front. It actually looks pretty cool in real life.
The Singapore zoo is the BEST zoo I have ever been to. You get really close to the animals.
It’s set within the rainforest… sooo cool
They said that the zoo was concepted by the crocodile hunter Steve Irwin.
Another interesting site is the Asian Civilization Museum. After traveling to parts of India, China, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia it was cool to see all of the places explained at once and VERY clearly. Worth a visit to get a better understanding of the region.
Singapore has more or less been gentrified by the west. It has all the modern conveniences along with modern pricing.
