The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China was, well you guessed it, Great!  One of the other travelers I met, recommended that I hike from Jinshangling to Simatai to see a well perserved and crowd free part of the Great Wall.  Most tourist go to Badaling, but that site is appraently very crowded and you have to go shopping at a jade factory. The Hike was amazing and as you will see from my pictures there were hardly any tourist on the wall.  I was however, greeted by many “farmers” willing to sell me T-Shirts, post cards, drinks and fans.  The hike can be done in 2 hours but I went slowly and took 4 hours.  I left the Simatai climb for my next trip to China.

The Great Wall is very long and the stone work is excellent.

One of the many farmers on the wall.  This guy actually didn’t try to sell me anything.

  4. Hi Clayton,
Wow. Your photos are fabulous! Your adventures are amazing. Thank you for taking time to meet with me when you were visiting Kam at ‘Iolani. I was wondering if I could use a couple of your photos in the ‘Iolani Bulletin magazine to go with the story about you. Thanks very much.
